Pantyhose & Tights

The Pantyhose Party project was born back in May 2011 with the creation of a Tumblr blog that eventually became the launching ramp for the website you’re looking at now. Our idea was to share some of the looks we loved with the world and spread our passion for fun, colorful legwear. This website gave us much more control over the layout and structure of the different sections and we started posting some interviews with some of our favourite fashion bloggers, articles about brands and celebrity looks, videos and much more. Still we always kept our initial Tumblr blog which we eventually renamed to Pantyhose Fashion in order to separate it from this website and through it we continued to promote independent fashion bloggers and the love that together we share for tights, leggings, socks, legwarmers and all other possible and imaginary kinds of legwear.

About one year and a half later we’ve hit the thousand follower mark so we decided to create this post here at Pantyhose Party to tell you a little about the history of our project. We’d like to thank all of our followers as well as occasional visitors and all the reblogs and love we’ve received throughout this time. Don’t forget to also give your support to the fashion bloggers who posted those wonderful photos on their own sites, they’re all beautiful people with a fabulous fashion sense and deserve to have their work admired and recognized, we hope they inspire you just as much as they inspire us.

Looking back at this milestone now, the project has kept moving in the same direction that Tumblr post first pointed towards: from a blog sharing other people’s looks, to a website with original articles, interviews and brand reviews, to what it is today, a proper hand-picked shop where every single piece pictured is real, photographed by hand, and sold directly through Vinted rather than just admired from a screen. The throughline the whole way has been the same one described above: a genuine love for legwear as a piece of personal style worth taking seriously, not an afterthought.

The independent fashion bloggers we featured back then, and the ones we’ve featured since, remain the best place to actually see legwear styled in a hundred different ways rather than just browsing a catalogue, so that part of the original Tumblr mission hasn’t really changed even as the format around it has.

A number of the articles, interviews and reader submissions from that original run are still preserved and published here rather than lost to a dead Tumblr archive, since keeping that early history accessible felt more in keeping with the spirit of the project than starting over with a clean slate every time the format changed.

If you were one of the original thousand followers reading this now: thank you, genuinely, the project wouldn’t have made it this far without people caring enough about colourful, unusual legwear to stick around through every format change since.

What hasn’t changed at all in the years since is the basic idea that legwear deserves to be treated as a real, considered part of an outfit rather than an invisible layer, which was the whole reason that first Tumblr blog existed in the first place.
