We’ve recently come across this beautiful lookbook by the Friction Code brand which features some beautiful earth tone colored clothing matched perfectly with white ribbed tights and also some crochet style knitted leggings which we thought you’d enjoy. White tights are especially hard to wear and aren’t seen that often on lookbooks or editorials so these are some great suggestions.

Friction Code was founded by designer Lyubomira Naydenova and defines itself as being a brand “for young active people with a strong personality united by their love of music” inspired by different urban music cultures and street lifestyles as you can realize simply by looking at some of the names of their collections like “Discoism”, “Hip Hop Head”, “Jazz Improv” or “Techno Time”.

The clothes have quite a minimal modern feel to them and they’re sure to provide a cutting edge to any wardrobe, unfortunately none of the other styles are complemented by funky legwear, something that we feel would take the brand’s clothing to a whole new level. Naydenova trained at the National Academy of Art in Sofia, Bulgaria, and the brand is still based there today. True to that limited-run, music-first ethos, most Friction Code pieces are produced in small batches or made to order rather than mass-manufactured, which fits the slightly more considered, editorial feel of this particular lookbook compared to a typical fast-fashion drop. Even the logo carries that same attention to detail — the wordmark combines “friction” and “code” into a single design that reads correctly however you look at it.

If white ribbed tights feel intimidating to style on their own, this lookbook is a good reference point: keeping the rest of the palette in warm, muted earth tones is what stops the white from reading too stark or too clinical against everything else.

Our take: white opaque tights are genuinely one of the hardest colours to get right, precisely because they show every mark and any hint of see-through at the thigh reads as an accident rather than a style choice, so a proper heavier ribbed pair like the ones in this lookbook is worth the extra weight over a thinner option. If you want to try the look yourself, a heavier-denier opaque white pair is a safer starting point than a sheer one, which shows far more than intended under most lighting.
