Today’s featured legwear fashion blogger is Molly McIsaac, whose blog is named the “Geeky Peacock”. She’s a fierce video gamer obsessed with anime, manga and cosplay, influences that we see reflected in many of the colorful vibrant looks she has published on her page. She describes her style as “an eclectic mix of japanese street fashion, nu goth, whimsical florals, edgy punk rock, pretty pastels, and re purposed vintage pieces” and she has great taste in terms of legwear and how to combine it.

Besides owning a handful of other blogs to which she actively writes articles ranging the full spectrum of her passions she’s also a stand-up comedian whose “goal in life is to be the geeky Conan O’ Brien!”. The “nu goth” label she uses is worth a quick note if you haven’t come across it — it’s a style movement that took shape in the early 2010s, taking traditional goth staples like black lace, sheer layers and dark florals and mixing them with softer, more pastel and minimalist elements rather than the harder, more theatrical looks of 80s/90s goth. Sheer black tights and patterned pantyhose fit right into that aesthetic, which is probably why they show up so often in her looks alongside the more overtly kawaii, anime-inspired pieces.

Our take: sheer black tights and boldly patterned pantyhose are doing a lot of the work in tying together the nu goth and kawaii references she mixes, proof that legwear alone can bridge two aesthetics that might otherwise clash.
